808 People

Also known in our #dear808diary Facebook stories as Colin-the-Main-Konyn, he started off his career having qualified as a journeyman mechanic, with distinction, in 1998. After about 7 years at a general workshop, he moved to a BMW & MINI dealership, where he worked for 8 years, before opening Garage 808 with wife, Adele, in 2011. During his time at the dealership, he worked his way through the various BMW technician levels, reaching the following heights: “BMW Group Certified Master Technician”, “BMW Group Top Technician” (he was 1 of the Top 10 in the country), and the “Best BMW Group Certified Diagnostic Technician” (in the country). He’s an absolute wealth of knowledge and experience – which he’s been imparting to Danie since 2022.

Known in our #dear808diary Facebook stories as Adele Admin, she’s using not only her finely tuned organisational skills for the benefit of Garage 808, but is also drawing on her past training as an advertising art director, and career as fine artist to add flavour to the workshop’s presence in the Cape Town motor industry. Her clear communication skills, creative flair with social media posts and in-house designing, as well as genuinely having our clients’ best interests at heart, makes her an invaluable member of Team 808. Opening the workshop with husband, Colin, in 2011, was a no-brainer.

Known in our #dear808diary Facebook stories as Danie 007, he first studied civil engineering before discovering a tremendous love for working on cars. Destiny brought him to Garage 808 in 2022, and he’s been growing in absolute leaps and bounds since Day 1. Being the workshop’s 7^th employee, meant expectations were high that he’d become a secret weapon in 808’s arsenal – and has he ever. An unquenchable thirst for knowledge, a curiosity bar none, super positive attitude and work ethic seldom seen these days, make for the perfect recipe of a not-so-secret Top 808 team member. Working alongside Colin means he’s becoming a carbon copy of some of that knowledge and experience.
