Why use BMW and MINI oil filters?
Here is an example of what a new agents’ oil filter looks like. Next to it, is a BMW oil filter, after about 15 000 KM’s. The other photo is of a reputable after-market brand of oil filter. As can be seen, the after-market oil filters can distort and come apart.
Oil filters need to filter out any potential debris caused by various contributors. This could include metal filings, silicone sealer, broken pieces of the timing chain guide rails, just to mention a few. An oil filter coming apart or deforming, contributes to the problem, instead of assisting the engine. This is the reason we only fit agents’ oil filters.
